Calligraphy Yoga is innovative and contemporary but at the same time deeply bedded in the traditional health practices of India and China.

It is a fusion of 4 long established traditions, and each contributes to forge a distinctive synthesis that is suitable for everyone who wants to improve their physical health, strengthen their psychological resilience and cultivate their internal energetic reserves.
 

  • The principles of Tai Chi bring smooth effortless movement
  • The principles of Chinese Qigong bring an understanding of internal energy and a focus on Dantien as an energetic centre
  • The postures of Indian Yoga bring a physiological structure and form to the movements
  • The technique of Chinese calligraphy brings a 3 dimensional flow and link to the movements that are both intuitive and graceful.

The fundamental purpose of Calligraphy Yoga is to prolong life by increasing internal energy (Qi), NOT by extreme stretching. Flexibility will come with time, especially as the body loosens, in fact it will be automatic. There will be no need to force tendons or ligaments. Calligraphy Yoga is concerned primarily with energy production.

About Sasha Vasse

Sasha’s introduction to yoga has begun in early 2002 with completion of 10 weeks course in an ordinary city gym.

Since then Sasha has been primarily studying and practicing Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga under the instructions of many inspiring teachers such as Eileen Hall, Trevor Tangye, Don Peers, Fiona Parker and Dan Fanthorp.

Sasha also attended yoga workshops by Dena Kingsberg, Matthew Sweeney, Eileen Hall and an Ayurveda workshop by Dr. Rama Prasad.

In 2009 Sasha completed Yoga Anatomy & Physiology training with Yoga Synergy which deepened her understanding of the effects of yoga practice on human body.

Sasha was introduced to Master Yang and the Yang Mian™ System in early 2008. Sasha studied with Master Yang as he developed his Calligraphy Yoga sequences. After many years of practising traditional hatha yoga, Sasha was intrigued and keen to explore the natural flow and healing powers of Calligraphy yoga.

Sasha has been teaching Calligraphy yoga classes at Master’s Yang’s Yang Mian™ System gym since early 2009.
