Amelia was introduced to yoga with a friend in 2000 while studying for a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at the National Art School in Sydney. The sense of calm, joy and steadiness that came from practicing yoga, encouraged Amelia to practice regularly and to want to learn more. In 2003 she met Katie Manastis (Speirs) who introduced her to the deeper teachings of yoga. Amelia then completed the teacher-training course with Katie at Samadhi Yoga in Newtown.
Amelia began teaching soon after and during this time met Simon and Bianca at Yoga Synergy, where she fell in love with the Yoga Synergy style of yoga, the emphasis on correct alignment and safety and encouraging students to acknowledge their changing physical and emotional needs - making the practice something which supports and uplifts everyday life.
Amelia has studied and done workshops with many visiting teachers to Sydney over the years she has been studying yoga, including: Clive Sheridan, Donna Farhi, Richard Allen, Kamala Devi , Sharon Gannon and David Life(New York).
Amelia completed the Yoga Synergy Anatomy and Physiology course in both 2005 & 2007 and began training at Yoga Synergy in 2007. Amelia now teaches at both Yoga Synergy schools (Bondi and Newtown) and continues making art work and exhibiting. Amelia is currently on maternity leave.
