Cath’s interest in Yoga began while studying a Bachelor of Dance at Queensland University of Technology in 2001. Cath initially practiced Ashtanga Yoga as a pre-performance warm up. It wasn’t until she stopped practicing for a period of time that she realised the huge benefits that had come as a result of her practice. Cath was excited to have found a practical discipline that allowed the individual to discover a greater sense of harmony and contentment in their lives.
In 2003 Cath met Katie Spiers of Samadhi Yoga who inspired her to deepen her practice, leading her to complete the Teacher training programme in 2004.
From a very young age Cath felt very drawn to the role of the teacher, as her passion for yoga grew so did her desire to encourage others to develop a daily yoga practice.
In early 2005 Cath met Simon and Bianca and began practicing the Yoga Synergy style of yoga. Synergy style complemented her philosophy and her motivation to teach yoga. It made perfect sense.
In 2006 Cath travelled to India, where she studied Tibetan Buddhism and attended numerous meditation retreats. She developed a greater understanding of the mind and its connection to the body and experienced first-hand the benefits of isolation from a busy western lifestyle. It was at this time that her appreciation for Yoga Synergy and its meditative style grew. She was keen to return to Sydney to continue her study with Simon and Bianca. In 2007 Cath began her training and teaching with Yoga Synergy at both Bondi and Newtown schools.
In 2005 and again in 2007 Cath completed the Applied Anatomy and Physiology course at Yoga Synergy. Cath has also attended workshops led by many different teachers (Clive Sheridan, Donna Farhi, Glen Ceresoli, Simon Low) over the years she has been practicing yoga.
Cath also teachers Yoga to adults with Autism and is interested in making yoga accessible to individual with special needs.
