Liz Bennett

Liz' s exploration of yoga began in 1996 with Sattyananda yoga classes led by her Shiatsu instructor Sandra Sebelis in Adelaide.

The changes in energy levels, flexibility and thought patterns observed after these early yoga classes fostered in Liz a desire to seek other teachers and styles to broaden her experience.

Meanwhile, Liz studied physiotherapy at the University of South Australia from 1994-1998, and Shiatsu therapy at the South Australian College of Shiatsu.

In her final year of physiotherapy training Liz established Yoga as her elective subject and approached Simon Borg-Olivier to be her supervisor. Soon she was flying off to Sydney to discover the Synergy style.

On completion of her degree, Liz set off to Asia where she spent several months in the Himalayas, practising yoga and learning from different teachers and books.

However it was here that she felt a renewed connection to the Yoga Synergy style, in particular the emphasis on students working within their own limits and preventing injury through the use of bandhas.

Liz worked as a physiotherapist in hospitals community centres and private practices from 1999-2003 in South Australia , returning to India twice and traveling further through Asia and Europe, also managing to fit in an Acupuncture Certificate with the Australian Physiotherapy Association in 2000.
